The Area
Homps is situated on the Canal du Midi in the Minervois region between Narbonne and Carcassonne
There are many sites of interest within easy travelling distance of Homps. The ancient city of Minerve clings to the side of a gorge carved by water flowing for 40 million years and is 10 minutes away by car. Carcasonne and Narbonne are each half an hour by car
Within two minutes walking distance from our Villa is the Canal du Midi. A five minute walk along the towpath will take you to the centre of the village.
Another five minutes or so will bring you to the Lac de Jouarres where separate beaches are available for sailing/windsurfing, swimming and fishing
If you prefer you can drive to the beaches of the Mediterranean near Narbonne or to escape the heat of the day go up into the Montagnes Noire or the Pyrenees. The principality and tax haven of Andorra is a suitable destination for a day trip and the Spanish border is less than 2 hours away
